Concert in the Church of sv. Vavřinec

Saturday’s concert of the Harmonie Foundation Orchestra in the Church of sv. Vavřinec on Petřín Hill was a real success. The church was filled to capacity! The orchestra played all the compositions it had rehearsed through the whole school year, namely: Carpentier – Te Deum, Mozart – A Little Night Music, Dvořák – New World Symphony – Largo, and Smetana´s aria Proč bychom se netěšili. The chamber orchestra made up of the Harmonie Foundation Orchestra teachers also performed as part of the concert, playing a medley of film melodies and Henry Purcell’s Suite in G Major for Strings. It was a lovely sunny evening during which the children presented to their parents and friends what they had learnt during the past eight months of rehearsing. The concert was also our joint contribution to the celebrations of the 700th anniversary of the birth of Emperor Charles IV.
