Every Czech is a musician. That is no longer true!‼️

The present shows that only a fraction of children in the Czech Republic get to play a musical instrument. Music is disappearing from schools and school orchestras do not exist.

Exceptional personalities from the world of music have been sounding the alarm for several years, drawing attention to this unfortunate situation. World-renowned pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim says: “Music should be part of basic education because studying music shapes not only musicians but personalities as a whole. Music is not just sound, but an idea—a basic language of emotion, logic, and humanity.”

However, there is a solution. We have 16 years of positive experience showing us how to create a school orchestra in elementary school. We were the first in the Czech Republic to introduce teaching based on the methodology of the Fundación Musical Simón Bolívar (El Sistema) program. Teaching is done in groups, children are part of the orchestra from the very beginning and have their own conductor. Teaching and instrument rental are free of charge.

In Europe, this idea is supported by Sistema Europe. This organization, of which we are a founding member, brings together similar programs and enables young musicians from all partner countries to meet regularly at international camps, which usually end with a spectacular concert.

‼️Unfortunately, this wonderful project is now under threat in the Czech Republic!

Due to a lack of funds, the Harmonie Foundation will be forced to cease its activities. We are therefore looking for ways to reverse this situation.

Help us save the idea of school orchestras and music education in the Czech Republic, which would be open to all children without distinction.
