Harmonie Foundation
Commenting on the Harmonie Foundation at a press conference on September 22, our patron Ivo Kahánek said:
”I am greatly honoured and pleased to be part of the El Sistema project, which changes children’s lives through music. The principle of music education through playing in an orchestra brings together children from different social strata, who would have otherwise never come into contact. As a result, music becomes their elementary and natural means of expression, similar to language and script. Furthermore, children experience joy that can be immediately shared with their contemporaries, and not only with their teacher, who is, in the child’s perspective, in a ”different boat“ after all. This intense joy is an answer to children’s natural motivation and life energy, while the community consisting of a teacher and small musicians, especially children from socially excluded groups, actually substitutes the function of a family.”
The press conference reported on the start of Ivo Kahánek´s association with the Harmonie Foundation; a Memorandum on cooperation was signed at the press conference. We have also announced the opening of ticket sales for the Advent benefit concert, given by I. Kahánek in support of the project and the present and future of the El Sistema project in the Czech Republic.
